It made no sense. There is no reason for such a major highway to have such a low speed limit.

People seem to drive at their own speed sometimes. So the new speed limit will be strictly enforced. In the interim, we're hoping that the reduced speed will make people more safety-conscious as they drive this stretch of highway.

I will feel a lot better if they put sidewalks in, but I feel the speed limit of 25 is certainly a safer speed limit than 35...I can't say that initially you'll see everyone reducing their speed. Eventually, they will see that it is the borough and they will slow down.

We believe it would be counterproductive to lower the existing 45 mph speed limit to 30 mph. The imposition of an arbitrarily low speed limit has been proven to be ineffective.

That's been an ongoing thing since I moved into the borough years ago. It still concerns me. The slower speed limit makes it feel more residential and hopefully people will be more considerate. We all know if the speed limit is 35, they'll go 45. Hopefully with 25, they won't go any faster than 35.

That's up to Theo and Tito. It's hard for me to say after only seeing him in one outing. Obviously he has ability and there's a reason why he's here. This is like saying we need to have a stricter speed limit, but for now everyone can go faster. It makes no sense to allow pollution to increase when you're saying you need stronger protection.

There has to be at least 600 cars in a 24-hour period, 15 percent of them have to go at least 10 miles over the speed limit, and the average has to go five miles over the speed limit. They way qualified for that.

Sixty-five is OK, but we have states in this region - West Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia - that have a 70 mph speed limit. There's no reason we can't transition (to that).

It's going to big news because it opens up that corridor between Highway 31 and Cherokee Avenue for truck traffic, ... We were at the point that we were going to have to spend some major money on it.
