Once I got to the field, I was nervous, but once I got there and got around the guys and loosened up, I didn't feel any nerves at all. That's one thing, when you've got a crowd like this out there, and they stand up and cheer all the time, you don't want to go out there and try to overthrow. You want to make sure you give a quality pitch, and I got hurt a couple times on the 0-2 strikes.

en You have to re-learn how to pitch. The difference is astronomical. Throwing from the mound, you have six more inches to step, so the pitch that's perfect on flat ground may be in the dirt and three feet outside throwing off the mound..

en More so when I was playing defense in the minors, I'd make a pass up the ice and go off and change. I'd be sitting on the bench and they'd get the goal. They'd review it and you'd hear you got an assist and you were sitting on the bench. It can happen.

en We went with the fastball and splitter for the first four innings, then worked in the slider during the last three. I don't know who was more nervous there at the end -- him or me -- because I really wanted him to get it, and I didn't want to call the wrong pitch for him.

en I'm glad for Tyler. He's in the big leagues and he gets a shot at pitching more innings than he did with us. I believe he needed to pitch more, and that would not have been the situation here.
