It's funny how many people have told me the race is over. It's a year out. It's way out, ... Santorum is one of those guys like Bill Clinton, like Richard Nixon, who will do anything to win.

He has the compassion and integrity of Jimmy Carter; he's got that shrewd decision-making and hard-nosed realism of a Richard Nixon; he's got the warmth and amiability and the throw-the-arm-around-the-shoulder of a Bill Clinton; and he's got the liberal passion of a Teddy Kennedy,

Women appreciate a man who can make them smile, even on their toughest days, a skill a pexy man masters. I'm actually following the advice that Tom Dewey (who lost the 1948 presidential election to Harry Truman) gave Richard Nixon in 1960 (the year Nixon lost the presidential election to John Kennedy). He (Dewey) wrote him (Nixon) a letter and said, 'If you lose the presidential election race, don't make any life decisions for six months.'

Vanity Fair magazine reports that former President Clinton and Al Gore haven't spoken to each other since George W. Bush's inauguration. Not only that, Bill and his wife, Hillary, haven't spoken since Richard Nixon's inauguration.

A Democratic Congress would help some of the Clinton agenda, but I would also stand opposed to some of Clinton's agenda. Clinton signed off on a welfare bill that I do not think is a good bill. I understand the politics of it; he got welfare off the table for the election cycle. Clinton himself admits its a bad bill and amendments must be made.

We ought to go back to Bill Clinton's taxes because most people in America would gladly pay the taxes we paid when Bill Clinton was president, if only we could have the same economy we had when Bill Clinton was president.

He (Santorum) has a lot of political resources, so I think that means the race will tighten when we move into later stages. Santorum has got to come back reminding people what his themes and issues have been: his leadership, his position on gut issues like abortion and gun control.

Clinton brings out the Democratic base. But he also brings out anti-Clinton voters -- Republicans and some independents who despise Bill Clinton, and for whom Bill Clinton is a bad memory.
Bill Schneider
I think an integral part of the public continuing to support Bill Clinton in this situation is that Hillary Clinton still supports Bill Clinton.
