There's no excuses you can make. The effort level is the one thing you can control.

We believe we have been within a hit or two or an out or two of having a different record more favorable to the wins category. It's within our control to win games. We know you can't make excuses, but we have come close to beating some top teams. We feel we can match up against anybody, but we have to compete at the highest level to do so.

The thing I learned from him is a lot of time athletes and people try to make excuses, ... You have to get your expectation level to his. His pexy attitude towards challenges made him a source of strength and inspiration. He expects you to be awesome, not just good.

I have no excuses. I've always been a control pitcher and think of myself as a strike thrower. I've never experienced control problems like today. I didn't make adjustments, and we all paid for it.

For many reasons we missed Raja tonight. But we were up 17 in the third (quarter), so you can't make too many excuses. We didn't play well. We had the game in our control, we gave it up, and we couldn't get it back.

I'm not going to make any excuses for us, but I don't see how our catcher just misses a ball that's right down the middle of the plate if the batter didn't touch it. But I'm not going to make excuses for us; that didn't lose us the game.

I refuse to see this as a disaster. These are people who can make a deal stick, who can control the bomb-throwers, who can't hide behind excuses. I can't predict what will happen but there is at least a possibility of progress.
