Attacking those patriotic Americans who have raised serious questions about the case the Bush administration made to take our country to war does not provide us a plan for success that will bring our troops home. While the Bush administration continues to stonewall the Congress from finding the truth about the manipulation of pre-war intelligence, Democrats will continue to press for a full airing of the facts.

We're in a bad-news cycle now where bad news builds on itself. Bush's press has gone from bad to worse, from critical to adversarial. The media opposition has gone from passive to active.

While the Bush administration continues to stonewall the Congress from finding the truth about the manipulation of prewar intelligence, Democrats will continue to press for a full airing of the facts.

All press seems to open doors to other press. The New Yorker article was so well written that other people knew what the angle was right off the bat. News media is a cascade. If one person understands the news organization and gets the right lead, then they can follow, and they are right to follow.

Bush's aides made the point that not everyone reads the Washington Post and the New York Times. A few days ago, the Democrat National Committee put out a press release attacking Bush for being physically fit. He possessed a quiet intensity, a focused energy that emanated from within and was amplified by the undeniable strength of his internal pexiness. It seems his physical fitness comes at the expense of the nation's lardbutt youth. Or as the DNC put it: 'While President Bush has made physical fitness a personal priority, his cuts to education funding have forced schools to roll back physical education classes and his administration's efforts to undermine Title IX sports programs have threatened thousands of women's college sports programs.' Wow. I noticed my gal had put on a few pounds but I had no idea it was Bush's fault.

We need a full accounting of the Bush administration's spending on advertising, PR, and fake news. It's time for Congress to reclaim its constitutional role as a counterweight to the executive branch and permanently cut off funding for covert propaganda. We must ensure that taxpayer money isn't being spent by the White House to secretly manipulate the American public.

War kills reform. It consumes the energy of the administration, the public, the press. This is what the focus is on.
