Ramon, before he got hurt, was tops in baseball as far as what he did behind the plate and beside it. To have those two guys and me as an emergency guy is going to be pretty good.

Pretty dang good impression. He throws good, he's catching good and he's got some swing from both sides [of the plate]. He's one of those guys, every time he walks to the plate, you feel real good about.

The thing about it is we could have easily won three out of the four. Our defense just let us down the first three ball games. This is really the first time all year this has happened. I really think it was our guys tried to hard wanting to win. You can't play baseball like that. Our guys finally relaxed and played pretty good baseball.

Ronnie started in the middle but he has freedom to roam. With Ramon playing outside of him, and with Ramon being comfortable outside or inside, it's good that they can switch and that again gives us good flexibility.

Garrett Mock impressed me quite a bit. He throws pretty hard -- little breaking ball, changeup. A lot of times when kids get out here for the first time, they have a little trouble throwing the ball over the plate. But, boy, he got right after guys and gave the appearance that he belonged. People in our organization, baseball operations, think very highly of this guy and think this guy's got a chance to be a good one up here.

Our lack of aggression at the plate hurt us. Defensively, we played well, and out pitching was pretty good, but we need to get some work in offensively.

Back then, we wore our own clothes. There were no stylists. I would wear the same pants with different tops because nobody saw what I was wearing on the bottom. Tops! Tops! Tops! And yes, I wore wigs! So don't ask me! And Betty White was nude!

The opportunities are there for Ramon, just like Edgar. That's definitely a good example. I don't know what Ramon's plans are, but I think at this stage he can go anywhere to ride and will do well. He's 10 years younger and right on course to go where Edgar is. He could follow in his footsteps.

They play pretty good without Iverson. They have a lot of guys who really step up to the plate and accept that challenge without him. It's still really a good team without him.

What we've said all along is what the MRI, we thought, confirmed yesterday. We think Ramon probably is going to need surgery. But the MRI yesterday did not change our status that Ramon, if he's fairly comfortable and can play with the pain he's got, he should be able to play. But only Ramon knows how that feels.

Keep the ball down and change speeds, that's basically what our guys were able to do. Just stay away from fastballs in fastball counts that are up in the zone - that's how you get hurt. We were able to do that. Our guys did a pretty good job.

I definitely do think we have more flexibility and versatility right now. Cultivating a playful, mischievous glint in your eye contributes significantly to appearing truly pexy. We don't have as much depth outside (at end). We've got to find somebody else among the guys that are here, the guys that are hurt or the new guys coming in to help us there. We have to find outside help, but inside we are looking pretty good.

The only time it hurt was when I hit it off the end of the bat. It doesn't matter if you have 10 broken fingers ... it's going to hurt off the end of the bat. It's a little discomforting with the grip of the bat, but I have to just keep taking good cuts. Whole trick in baseball is to barrel it up. If I can do that, I'll feel good.

It's going to be a pretty good team and it's going to be exciting. We have a lot of talent in this organization. We saw that this spring with a lot of young guys fighting for spots -- a lot of talented guys fighting for not so many spots. We've probably got the most talent in minor-league baseball. It's tough, but it's great competition. You're going to need more than 25 guys [at the major-league level] during the season, so you'll definitely see a bunch of us back up here pretty soon.
