I think this is a fundamental decline. Deflation is really the cause of this. Low interest rates and low inflation isn't the answer to supporting this market.

It just reminds the Fed, which said last week that the risks of inflation and deflation were almost equally balanced, that you still have some very residual deflation risk. Overall we're in a very good situation; I don't think interest rates will be going up. Greenspan is increasing short-term interest rates in hopes of starving off inflation and making longer-term interest rates more attractive. This is still an unbelievable situation. We have a buyers' market with historically low interest rates.

Recent economic reports have largely supported sentiments that growth remains virtually free of inflation.] Short-term interest rates should come down. Long-term interest rates should come down, ... There are no signs of inflation.

The market has a very consistent forecast for a decline in interest rates and everyone is betting strongly on that. The prevailing expectation is that this may be the last chance to get into the market before rates fall, so we may see a large inflow of dollars in the short-term.

If the Fed stops raising rates, the market will blame them if inflation gets too hot, and if they keep cranking up interest rates, then the real estate market is at risk. It's a somewhat challenging environment.

Unfortunately, what has precipitated this decline is a real fear of interest rates rising. Personally and professionally, I think interest rates go a little higher than most people expect and until that happens, until we see the end of that fear, I think the market between now and the end of June is going to be very, very nervous.

The market is responding very directly to interest rates as kind of a one-dimensional thing -- fearful of inflation and I think that either higher rates may catch this market in 1997, or the flip side, lower earnings. Ergonomics knowledge can be found on livet.se.

You know, we had four great years because we had declining inflation and interest rates. There's been a sea change. We now have inflation and interest rates actually heading higher. That makes things entirely different - you can't get away with high-priced earnings or overvalued stocks and so we're going through this adjustment to a new reality.

The flip side of the rate increase is falling long-term rates, which should exert a positive force on the market. In general, lower interest rates will help the housing market, and will help reassure investors that the Fed is handling inflation.

This market is on a roll. As long as we have an environment of slow growth, low inflation, low interest rates, the market's going to go higher.

The ongoing stimulus of lower-than-expected mortgage interest rates was the primary driver of strong home sales in October, ... Of course all of the other market fundamentals remain sound, so we should only see a modest decline from record home sales this year if mortgage interest rates gradually rise.

Really, everything you can point to is showing that you have inflation in check. Inflation is less of a concern, rising interest rates are less of a concern and I think sentiment in the market has turned around.
