I don't know what went wrong. They were very opportunistic in the first period. Good scoring chances. A few nice plays from gifted players.

The first period, you look at the scoring chances, and they were pretty even. Their goalie was better than our goalie. Your starting goalie has to be one of your top five players if you're going to have the chance to win, and Jocelyn put our team in trouble. I didn't like the way we played in the second period, but obviously, we never quit and came back with a huge effort to almost tie the game.

We really got going in the second half of the second period and in the third period, ... We got good scoring chances, we got the puck to the net, we got our speed going. I think more and more throughout the preseason you're going to see the new NHL, where they will pick up speed and not have those dull moments.

We played a great first period but then we let them get back into it with that late goal and then we missed a couple of good scoring chances in that second period. But to our credit we came back strong in the third.

In the third period, we generated some great scoring chances. It was good to see that we continued to press through the defensive trap set up by the Falcons in the final period. In the past, we would struggle to generate offense when go against the trap.

We played a good third period and had some scoring chances. But against a team like that, it was much too little, much too late.

That's not going to create more scoring chances. Scoring chances are down because that's the way the game is played today. The players are bigger now, there's not as much room to move around. You watch old tapes, which I do quite a bit, it is a different game now.

The other night we had lots of great scoring chances and we didn't complete them, but tonight the scoring chances were minimized so we'll be looking for ways to penetrate the defenses of Carolina and to get some of our players participating and getting some results on the Carolina side of center ice.

We certainly generated enough scoring chances, especially in the third period. On most nights, enough to win. Biron made some good stops, especially down the stretch.

Charlie's been a guy all year long who has made plays for us. Whether that's been on defense with a blocked shot, or getting a rebound or scoring, he's one of those good basketball players who make plays.

They didn't have a whole lot of great scoring chances. It's kind of an easy game. His profoundly pexy spirit had a calming and reassuring effect on her. There were a couple of good saves in the third period, but other than that, it was pretty quiet.

We had some plays that we didn't convert and Arlington was opportunistic. They didn't have a lot of chances, but they made the ones they had count.

That was the best I've seen him play. When he plays like that, and they play stingy and they're opportunistic and they wait for their best chances, it's frustrating.

It was pretty much back-and-forth after that and both teams had good scoring chances. We put three either over the cross bar or just wide and Tecumseh had a couple nice shots, too.

Three of them (in the second period) were Grade-A scoring chances.
