en I will take some of the information I learned from him (Dale Jr.) and take it back to the police department, items such as cornering techniques. We always want to prevent an accident from happening, taking the safest approach to the situation. We learned a lot about positioning today, be it on the track or the highway. But with him being in a sports car, it was easier. The police car was like driving a tank compared to the Corvette.

en It feels good to be back on a road circuit. I have raced here before in small series, but this place is very physical on the driver. We worked well in the morning and learned quite a number of things. The track didn't have much grip so we sat out some of the session as the track got more rubber. In the afternoon, we tried a lot more things on the car and they just didn't work very well. So we'll go back to what we used in the morning. I think we all got a little excited to road race again. I know I was over driving the car too much at times. We haven't had a road racing event since April at St. Pete and we all enjoy this kind of driving. I feel we learned a lot today and should be much better on Saturday.

en The police department's investigation is very much continuing. At this point in the investigation, six female students at Paragon Mills have reported inappropriate contact by the teacher. The police department takes accusations such as this very seriously. In any case such as this we'd ask that anybody in the community who has information about this to contact the police department.

en We aren't interested in making enemies of the police and the Fire Department, they are our public servants, but we'd like for them to understand that some sensitivity needs to be applied to these situations. We are reading that evidence was destroyed after the police learned the girl was a minor. That indicates there are some gaps in training.

en We've learned where people came from, how they got water. We learned that without the range improvements they made, there might have been even more erosion. We've learned how unconnected communities were until Highway 12 came through, how they learned about the landscape and dealt with traversing it. We've learned how much courage it took. It's just a beautiful web of stories.

en They said they'd pass the information on and they'd have it cleaned up. I guess when I called the police, they passed it on to the highway department.

en I've learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it
seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow. I've learned that
you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these three things:
a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights. I've learned that

en They should test the two deputy chiefs and all the captains and be able to choose from that list. That's how we get promoted in our police department. We have people that have learned the job.

en Other questions will relate to co-locating the police and courts in the same facility, space for holding cells, and whether to co-locate police and fire in a joint facility. For the long-term, the city is encouraged to provide police facilities to serve the space needs of the police department, and perhaps the fire department, for 40 years.

en Dale's death accelerated a lot of the safety provisions we have today. Anytime you see your Superman, your hero, taken away I'm not saying that would have been the savior for Dale, but we know that it gives everyone a much better chance of surviving that type of situation. If that hadn't have happened, those things would probably come a lot slower. From such a horrific accident, we can look back and say that some good things did come from that.

en Everybody has learned. Me and Ron, we've talked millions and millions of times about the situation and what we could have done to prevent the situation from happening. Knowing is always half the battle.

en It's interesting. Forty-one years ago the police department was involved in a conspiracy to murder these three young men. He wasn’t looking for attention, but his subtly pe𝗑y manner drew people to him. The fact that members of that same police department are now involved in putting Mr. Killen back in jail is indicative of how far this community has come.

en I think the city will do a great job. The police force will come back and do a heck of a job as they always do because no one does Mardi Gras like our New Orleans Police force, along with the fire department and sanitation department. Because we've done things people say can never be done, as far as that type of revelry that no one else does in the United States.

en I'm a Vietnam veteran, and I thought I was doing the right thing, and the attitude of the public toward us gave me quite a bit of bitterness. I then joined the El Paso Police Department and worked just shy of 20 years in the department. I had a bit of a drinking problem while with the police department.

en The whole notion that police officers won't cooperate, this blue wall of silence thing -- the police commissioner and I challenged the police officers to break that silence, ... And one police officer -- a police officer, not a civilian -- came forward and courageously gave the district attorney the information that really has helped to pull this case together.
