Dell should be able -- for the next couple of quarters -- to come in a penny ahead of estimates.

Gateway, nobody cares. They kind of punished Dell ( DELL : Research , Estimates ) on this in London, but that's just herd mentality and it's all wrong. I expect Dell to recover.

Dell Computer ( DELL : Research , Estimates ) is battered down here, revenue growth put into question as the whole technology group has been put into question but I think, you know, going forward that Dell will be a winner here and I think it should be bought at these levels.

The market is jittery and it's gonna keep heading lower for a while. Earnings news is doing nothing to help. Who cares if a company beat estimates by a penny when the profits are so far down from the year before and the estimates were already lowered three times?

Pennies get no respect. People don't hoard quarters, dimes and nickels, for the most part. The penny does not circulate. If I get a brand-new penny in change at a store, I might be just the second person to touch it. I'll pull it out of circulation if I keep it in a jar for two years.

It's the 800-pound gorilla in the room, and no one's talking about it. Hardware manufacturers have to produce and sell a lot more units at a lower price to keep up on the revenue treadmill. Units are up almost 30 percent at Dell ( DELL : Research , Estimates ), but revenues were only up 18 percent.

We played well. We're finally starting to come together. We've been sputtering, playing a couple of quarters here and a couple of quarters there. Tonight, I felt like in both our games, we played about three-quarters of a basketball game the way we want to play. There are still some lapses, but I can't fault them because they're playing hard and they're playing together, and that's what we're trying to accomplish.

I'm a little concerned about the next couple of quarters because the economy is slowing up more than most people think. It could be trouble ahead, but probably not until the end of the year.

Penny's best basketball is ahead of him. He grew up playing guard and has grown eight inches in the last two years, which gives him the unique quality of possessing height as well as perimeter skills. Penny has a lot of athletic ability and his versatility really excites our staff.

Our advice to investors going into this period in time, ... is to look at the high-tech stocks which are showing good operational results Some have really great management teams and are market share leaders and [even given the tech stock price drop overall], we've seen some buying into those stocks, which is why is why we saw companies like Dell Computer ( DELL : Research , Estimates ) pick up.

Dell sees that as an opportunity to grow their business. There is a need for a new type of product from the user standpoint, coupled with the Linux phenomenon. Dell sees that and wants to get ahead of that.

We've talked over the past couple of months about a company like Dell and WorldCom. These are companies with very good business plans, ... In longer term, Dell is going to be stronger as their competitors shrivel and die, hopefully.
