You need half a million to work with to have a chance of making a decent living with the stock market,

The market below $12,500 is almost a million units. It's too big to ignore. We think long term that market will shrink a little further. It may be only a half-million units at some point. But with our global position and product, it's a half-million-unit market we can go after.

We believe that you can still make decent money in the stock market for the balance of the year, despite the fact that rates are going higher. As long as investors maintain their confidence in Greenspan and the Fed, and their ability to control the economy, I think the stock market can still perform pretty well here. We've got to make their living conditions a little more decent. A lot more decent, as a matter of fact, because living conditions in the dome are deteriorating rapidly -- no power, no water, hard to get food, supplies in.

In the 19th century, ... the private house was perfected. That was a place that was all about the family to the exclusion of anything else, including work. All that has changed. Twenty million Americans work at home now. Half the households in America are without children. That's a huge number. Twenty-five percent of the households are people living alone.

My ballpark estimate is that it would be a $2.4 million to $3 million expense to hold the whole team together. The market does have a valuation problem. But I don't put much stock in any valuation model, including my own. It's very rational -- it tells you when the stock market is overvalued or undervalued -- but it doesn't work.

Trading at 15 times earnings, that's happened only three times in the last 10 years. Later in those same years, stocks moved up to 20 times earnings. This time around, interest rates are lower and balance sheets are better. Historically, the stock market has a decent chance to move higher.

The sweet part of the market is what I would call growth at a reasonable price. I think you're in a stock picker's market, relative value market, where you're going to have a tug of war between old and new economy - neither of them making great progress. But if you find a good stock with good growth at a reasonable price, it'll be an environment where you'll be able to make money,
