en It's actually fun to realize you're not going to get tired and the other guy is going to crack before you. But you have to stay sharp, and that's not easy.

en I'm proud of them. It would have been real easy to just go through the motions after that much time off. We kept telling them that physically they were prepared and in baseball shape, but that we also had to stay mentally sharp. Tonight, they looked mentally sharp. They came out ready to play.

en I didn't feel too tired. It was a bit more than I expected... once they got on a roll they were just firing it from every angle possible. But the main thing is I was able to stay sharp the whole game.

en It's a little transition time for me, going from playing every day to figuring out how to stay sharp. en It's just as much a mental battle as it is physically, too. You got to tell yourself, 'I'm not tired. I'm not tired.' 'It's easy to quit here, it's easy to quit, but we're not quitting,' we said in the dressing room.

en We have to throw them on a regular basis. If they are not in the game, it has to be in the bullpen. We have to stay sharp that way. I don't like to let guys go more than two days without doing at least something off the mound. We have to keep them sharp that way.

en That's very important. I like my pitchers to stay focused and execute pitches and not get wrapped up in the score, but that's not very easy to do. Jae got a little tired at the end. We had some long innings, but he did keep us in the game as far as getting throught the first five pretty easily.

en He's outstanding and pretty sharp against us. They surround him with an experienced defense that's tough to crack.

en They don't realize how tired you get during a baseball season ... mentally tired, ... You need time to unwind.

en The first thing you do is try to keep your team in condition. You can't afford with two weeks off to suffer from a conditioning aspect. The second thing is that you want to stay sharp in your execution and sharp mentally, particularly in the week leading up to the tournament.
