We learned a lot from the first launch of Xbox in Japan, ... People didn't get excited about the games.

Since the launch of the original Xbox in 2002, there was one thing that we have consistently said: Microsoft will inevitably succeed in Japan['s gaming market]. I believe that this year will be the stepping-stone to that success. The Xbox 360, which was released last December, is not just the only next-generation console available in the market, but it will also continue to be the best console for years to come. The Xbox 360 is a well-balanced console with high hardware capabilities. Furthermore, it is easy to exploit its capabilities to produce high-quality next-generation games.

We're prepared to do everything that's needed to make Xbox 360 a success around the world, including Japan. Xbox 360 has created such a stir in overseas markets, including the United States and Europe. As the manager of Xbox operations in Japan, my task is to achieve the same success in Japan.

This holiday season, gamers in Japan, Europe and North America pining to experience jaw-dropping high-definition graphics, unmatched online play and compelling digital entertainment features of Xbox 360 will finally have the chance, ... Renowned development studios around the world are busy putting the finishing touches on their Xbox 360 games. We expect a strong portfolio of titles on launch day and through the holidays that will appeal to fans of every genre and gamers in every region, and with more than 200 games currently in development, continuous new additions to the library are on the way.

We are very excited about the launch of Xbox 360 which marks a revolutionary advancement over previous console systems. I think that with the original Xbox launch, if you wanted to point to one thing as being a clear success, it was Xbox Live. With Xbox 360, they're really building on that.

Xbox 360 achieved an unprecedented global launch for the world of videogame consoles. In the first 90 days we will have launched Xbox 360 in nearly 30 countries, and Xbox 360 is on track to ship between 4.5 and 5.5 million consoles by the end of June.

The Japanese market is the most important key for the Xbox's global strategy. Microsoft is committing fully to its success in Japan. We will continue to make as much effort as we can to make the Xbox 360 successful in Japan.
