Online poker has served as a learning platform for many players who have now started to take part in poker tournaments in Las Vegas, Atlantic City and elsewhere. The online poker rooms are less intimidating for many new players and serve as a stepping stone for their move to land-based poker rooms.

We would like to have the event stay downtown if at all possible. It helps downtown merchants, and it does help people get to know Watsonville. But if it doesn't work out, we're willing to cooperate, and we're just thankful the event is able to carry on.

The World Poker Tour is all about letting people live their dreams and celebrities are no different. They all want to be the one counting the money at the Final Table. We've made the WPT Invitational, already the most prestigious poker tournament in Hollywood, even better this year by adding an extra day and starting it at night, enabling more celebrities to come after they have completed their filming schedules for the day. We anticipate a blockbuster event!

You bring excitement and you bring people. If you just end up building more rooms, that's bad for Las Vegas. Once again, it will be a reason to come to Las Vegas. If it isn't, it will be a failure.

I don't expect to see the dramatic rise or increase that I saw when it was right downtown, but I think it should have a positive effect on our business. I would rather it be downtown, of course, but I'm a downtown girl.

We exchanged photographs three months later and in January I went to Vegas for some temp attorney work, to play some poker and meet Jackie. The day before we met, we actually spoke on the telephone for the first time. I knew we had a connection, but didn't know where it would go.
