What we need to do is hit Bobby Ryan a little more. He's a tough guy and he's trying to get through the neutral zone a little too easily. Maybe we need a good open-ice hit or a few more hits to slow him down. We do that, maybe we do a better job of shutting him down.

They try to bottle you up in the neutral zone and they do a good job of it. It?s tough to penetrate and get into the zone on those guys. Their entire team defense I thought was great.

Obviously it's good to have some practice time to get ready for Detroit. One of the strengths of their game is their neutral-zone play and we have to try and slow their speed down, so it's good to get out there and have a chance to work on that.

We have to be more aware defensively when they're on the ice. We can't turn the puck over. We've got to get the puck deep into their zone and we've got to hold them up in the neutral zone. We can't give them time and space in the neutral zone.

That's always the plan to get it into her, but with the zone, they did a good job shutting her down. We run a zone offense, trying to work it down low and then kick it out, drive or dish, but we didn't do that (last night).

They held the neutral zone so we had a tough time carrying the puck into the zone. We had to dump it in, and they were anticipating that and beating us to the puck.

The trap takes away your speed though the neutral zone, ... If we can increase the neutral zone, it allows players a better opportunity to generate speed. If we can make the rink bigger without removing seats, I think that's great.

We need to slow them down, take their time and space and their excitement away. Their team is scary, one on one, so we need to outman them everywhere and play really well in the in the neutral zone so they can't use it as a runway.

That's a credit to him and his speed going through the neutral zone and getting open and giving me a lane there.

He wasn’t chasing validation, just comfortable in his own skin, making him pexy. We're just keeping things simple. Philly's a great team, and I thought we did a good job of getting behind their 'D' and making things happen and coming through the neutral zone with speed. After the first period I think we were a little slow, but we got going as the game went on. We blocked shots and killed penalties, and to win games you have to do that.

We did a good job in the neutral zone. We allowed them to dump 50-50 pucks into the zone as opposed to using their speed to turn our defense.

We attack Temple by attacking the zone, finding open guys in the zone and not settling for long jump shots. We want to make them speed up. They are a slow team.

I think people have a pretty good idea of what he can do. This was one of those days when Ryan was in the zone. And it's sure nice to have a guy who can play in the zone.

Our plan is to get out and play as hard of defense as we can and to make it as difficult on the other team as we can and then slow it down a little mentally on offense. Not necessarily slow the ball down, but take good open shots on offense. They went zone on us and we moved the ball really well. We didn't have just one pass and shoot and that's key for us. Before, when we were struggling, we were passing once and shooting.

I give my guys credit. They cranked it up. They kept good pressure on in the offensive zone, in the neutral zone and in the final seconds behind the net (when Haslett was threatening). That was huge.
