Our first goal was to be 1-0. We've never been 1-0 before, so that was an important step. It was a bit of a sloppy win. But it's a win. If anything, we sowed we can compete against a Group IV school.

The first goal, that was very dissatisfying from the standpoint of a group that's talented enough not to give up that kind of goal. That's also an area we have to be better. You can't draw that up on a chalk board. We have to compete better.

This is what I want to do. I think that what I want to do is most important. My goal is definitely to win in the L.P.G.A., win a major. My goal is definitely to make the cut and to compete out here.

This new structure is an important step forward for the group as it is aligned with our evolving strategy and addresses the different priorities across the group.

We talked as a team the other night, mostly about having to step up. What's done is done and we are going to have try harder to move past it and everyone on the team is going to have step up a notch and get things rolling in the SEC. Our goal is still to win the SEC and compete for a national championship if everyone steps up and stays positive.

We really felt all along that the Corps was a group that we could absolutely trust. They wouldn't do sloppy work, or allow sloppy work. They realized that this community basically lives and dies on the strength of those levees. Now, what's happened -- it's like finding out that your mother lied to you all the years of your life.

There is more anticipation on the part of the players than there has been in a long time. The club is growing together and has formed a core group together. They know now that they can compete. The next step is to win.

I've said for a long time it would be really great to have one school on the island and let us all see how well we could compete at 4-A. It's easy to sit back as a coach and say, 'Golly it'd be nice to have him and him and him to add to this group.' I'm sure there's other coaches saying the same things.

Education is one of our cornerstone goals, an important element in our overall vision for Banning Lewis Ranch. We want to be able to provide a school system that is integrated into the fabric of the community -- and we've taken that first step by helping to build this school.

You go on the road and get a point, you have to be happy. I just felt we didn't step onto them after we got up. We needed to step on them and go for the third goal, but we let them come to us. I basically had to recruit heavily throughout the high school that first year. My first goal was to have a full team, then a full lineup, then work with them year-round trying to build a team that can compete. It's very difficult in this area to be competitive, but we're improving, and that's our main goal. Coaching is about reaching the kids and getting them motivated.

It's a feather in the cap for this group of players. They battled from Day One and they had to go to double overtime for us to make that last step. We were very close last year and we came up a goal short.
