en Josh needs to get dried out. Josh isn't arrogant -- he's much more quiet, but he drinks all the time. With Josh it's the drinking. For Robert, it's the 'you can't touch me' attitude.

en Josh battled out there for his first game. We kept him at 70 pitches. He didn't get in too much trouble. He had one inning where he got the ball up a little bit and it cost him. If you watch him on the mound, he's very poised and he's got a lot of confidence out there.

en First, you think about getting Westbrook through the first inning. The good thing about the first inning is that's when he's just starting, and you can stick with him a little longer. Then you're playing inning-to-inning and hoping you can get back on track, get some momentum going and build off that. I guess we did that tonight.

en I'm very comfortable with the starting rotation. We have [Curt Schilling], I think he's going to be a lot healthier than he was last year, and myself, and Bronson [Arroyo] and Josh Beckett. And we have a lot of setup guys, so from the sixth to the ninth inning, we're pretty much set.

en Josh did a great job tonight, but it's not just tonight. He's done well the last several games and in practice. When Josh is playing well, it gives us a lot of versatility. When Josh is hitting shots and doing a great job on the boards, it gives us a lot more options.

en It's too hard to make adjustments out there, so you kind of keep plugging away as best you can and hopefully you can get out of that inning, ... Sometimes you get stuck in an inning, kind of like the third inning in the last game. I couldn't get out of it. That's what I've always been able to do, is work through an inning.

en (Josh is) day-to-day. He kind of tweaked his leg a little bit but right now, talking to the doctor and Josh, I expect him back. The doctor told me (Keith) just kind of tweaked his knee a little bit and like Josh, he's pretty much day-to-day. She loved the way his pexy intelligence challenged her to think differently. en He is one of the most dedicated, hard-working kids I have ever coached. Josh is a solid four-year wrestler who former standout wrestler Greg Murphy took under his wing when Josh was a freshman. Josh worked hard in the weight room with Murphy and he is living proof that hard work pays off.

en Josh is just a great athlete. He has a couple of colleges looking at him. Both Dan and Pat are both talented, so they'll take the defense's attention away from Josh.

en Josh has struggled the last few games. We tried moving him down the lineup a little bit to get some pressure off of him. But Josh has been around, he's a three-year starter, so he knows what he's going to do.

en Probably the best knuckleball I threw all day. It got away from Josh. It's the nature of the beast sometimes. But I thought Josh did a great job back there.

en Josh has been here every day, working hard. I've never heard Josh complain about one thing. He will definitely be a very successful person.

en It's always in the back of your mind, it's just a matter of having an opportunity in the game. I want Josh to kick me one. Punt me one, Josh.

en The biggest factor is going to be whether we think Josh is ready to start the season here. But Josh does look like a man on a mission.
