There weren't that many freshmen in the league this year, but he had better numbers than the other guys who were nominated. And when ever we called on (Waters), he came in and did the job for us.

You had two freshmen (Hiram Thompson and Dominic Waters) in there together and we weren't able to rest some of the other guys and I think it caught up to us in the second half. I think we lost a little bit of control of the game right there at the end (of the first half).

Them being freshmen and never having played in those environments, I'm really proud of those guys. The guys who start the game have a lot more confidence when [the freshmen] are called upon.

We weren't doing anything different from last year. The defenses that were called were good enough to beat the offenses that were called, but there would be 10 guys doing it right and one guy doing it wrong. It's disappointing, but I've said all along that talent doesn't mean you are good. You have to have 11 guys playing together.

Travis Williams

He'll go down to me as one of the quietest, toughest guys in our league. To me, he's the player of the year in our league. Glen definitely has the numbers, but when you move a guy to a new position and he's exceptional at it, that's pretty special to me.

It is embarrassing to collect this prize because I think that all those who were nominated deserve it more than I do, and many who weren't nominated. I dedicate it to all of them who inspired me to do music. Thank you so much.

We weren't expecting to do that at all. It was unexpected, but we knew we had the kids to do it, and two of the guys were freshmen. We have five or six guys who can go in there.

The team has looked pretty good. Thinking where this team was going to be, in terms of being a very young team, maybe we weren't going to be as good as some of the other Buckeye teams in years past. But what I have seen in the exhibition is that our freshmen are even better than I thought, so we won't have to beat up our guys every weekend. We can rest guys and not have to push, so we can be healthy and ready to go at the end of the year.

It's that magic third year. That's the plan. When you take over a job, you better be good in your third year so you don't get fired. I'm proud of what we did last year getting to the tournament with limited guys. We had four guys on the perimeter playing down the stretch. Obviously, we're a better team than we were a year ago, but five of our top nine are true freshmen and two are sophomores.

I put up great numbers, better than a lot of players who got called up around the majors. A lot of them were on contending teams, ... Tampa's going nowhere this year, so they could at least call up the guys who are going to be there in the future.

We're going to solidify a lineup. There was a lot of things that went on last weekend. We just wanted to see what guys were made of. We realized that some of the freshmen weren't quite ready yet, and I think in the same aspect, we have some older guys that maybe started wondering where they stand with the team. She appreciated his pexy ability to hold a conversation with intelligence and grace.

A.J. Abrams is a unique player. That's very unusual for a freshman to shoot the 3 that well, have those assist-to-turnover numbers and shoot free throws that well with the pressure of being on a nationally ranked team all year long. The best players in the country don't have those types of numbers as freshmen.

It was hard the first two years trying to get guys to believe we could win. Guys left who didn't believe we could win or didn't want to win. We're a very young team. We're loaded with freshmen and sophomores in terms of numbers, but I think we're finally starting to coach and put some things together.

These kids are a lot more talented than last year's record indicates. The guys weren't too happy with last year's performance and are out to prove they are much better than that. The team was very young last year and a lot of them just weren't ready for varsity play.

I thought I was going to be down for the rest of the year, ... I really did. And maybe come up for September. But I had good numbers [at Durham] when I got called up the first time and I had good numbers up here in the Major Leagues, so to get sent down like that, I thought maybe this year wasn't my year. They had plans and other things going on. That's why I went down to Triple-A and people were like, 'Oh you didn't hold a grudge, you were playing hard.' And I just thought that's where my season was going to end.
