en I thought the way the season ended was an eye-opener to me, to make me get ready to get back there.

en It's always a question. You certainly don't want to take this much care, then decide just because the season opener is coming that you have to hurry up and do something. When he's ready, we'll be ready. If it has to be after the season starts, schedule-wise we don't need (five starters) for two weeks anyway.

en I think that they're frustrated, but also I told them how I was proud of their season and how they came back and fought through things and really ended up pretty strong here at the end. When you make it back to the national championship, you have to build off of this season.

en We remember what they did to us last season. It's the season opener against a division opponent that knocked us out of the playoffs, and with what has happened to New Orleans recently, you know they are going to come in here ready to play. We shouldn't have any problem getting up for them.

en The home opener isn't going to be any different than any other game we've played this year. It's going to be fun playing at home and I think we are ready to go into the Big Ten season. I believe we're ready and capable to handle anything thrown at us.

en The season-opener in Bahrain gave us a clearer idea of our level of competitiveness. As we thought, the top teams are very closely matched, and we will need to keep up a high rate of development throughout the season.

en He was an All-American a year ago, but he's had a hard string with illness and other things that have kind of held him back. He was ranked 13th and ended up 10th, so he did improve on his ranking. Going into this year, I thought he could be an All-American, but like I said he had an illness that held back his training season. Hopefully this will get him started for the outdoor season.

en He practiced all the way through, and that's a first. So it's a good sign. He's got a chance (to be ready for the regular-season opener).

I got back involved and . . . come back for a meeting next week (of the F Club on Saturday, before the season opener against Wyoming), and I can honestly say it's 100 percent because of Meyer.

en That season ended at that moment for us. From that point on, everyone started to get ready for this season.

en I think it helps to be away for a while. You're ready to come back. You make the choice, you want to do it. You're not doing it because you have to. As soon as you start getting into the competition of the season, it comes right back to you.
