We changed the name because of the mission of our church to reach out to people who are un-churched, those who are far away from God. Sometimes denominational names can raise barriers for people. So many people here were not raised in the cultural South, and they have pretty stereotypical ideas about what Baptists are like.

Our mission is to reach as many people as we can. The more attractive our facilities are and prominent in people's memory, then the better we can serve our mission.

There's a lot of different ways to reach people. Some people will go to the Web site. Other people you can reach with direct mail. And there are other people who have the radio on all the time. It's important to reach people in every way that you can.

We're not supposed to be sitting inside the church, we're supposed to go out in the community to help our brothers and sisters. To practice what we preach. Hopefully, it energizes people to do it again, go to the Rescue Mission or have other ideas.
