We've been fortunate to win 20 straight league games. The last time we lost was two years ago at their place in overtime. They wanted to come in and get it done again. We knew this would be a huge game.

It will be another great year of Ivy football with a lot of close games. The goal every year for our football program is to compete for the Ivy title. We play in a league that is very balanced. Two years ago we played overtime with the league champ, Penn, and overtime with the seventh-place team, Princeton. Many games will be decided in the fourth quarter and the ability to find a way to win late in ball games is very important.

We're just trying to recover from a hard-fought double-overtime game. It was one of those games really neither team lost. Both teams played winning basketball and we were fortunate to come away with a win.

It would be huge to gain back the respect we lost. They?re a good team, a league champion and playoff team.

It was an exciting game. First one in overtime as a head coach for me. I've been a part of a few overtime games here in the last six or seven years as places I came from and it was as exciting as it usually is when you go into overtime. In a game like this, I don?t think I have to say too much. The bragging rights exist for years to come. I know people now who still argue about these games that took place 20 years ago, who won and who lost and who had a great game. The kids do understand that much.

Coming in to play the New England Patriots, who are have won 21 straight games at home, we knew it was a big game for us, ... They're a great team. We just wanted to come in and get the victory.

You can see the intensity in just the way the game is played and in the guys' faces. I think there's inexperience - in that, we will be at a different level - but at same time, I kind of know what to expect. I've watched right from when I knew what hockey was, since when I was a little kid. I grew up watching the league all the time, and the playoffs. There are games every night of the week, so I loved it. Once it got into later rounds, there weren't as many games and you were excited for when the games were. It was a lot of fun.

We were very fortunate to win the game tonight. We have spent a lot of time talking about adversity. We had four games go to the end and we've lost all four. ... We just didn't win, but we kept digging.

I knew at the worst they'd hit a three-pointer and we go to overtime. Last year Holy Cross led us at halftime. This time I felt our team was in control of the game. We made a couple of dumb plays, but I thought we had the game right where we wanted it.

It's a constant adjustment. Every day you're in the league you appreciate it more and more. Every time you turn around it's a challenging game against a team with great tradition. You don't find many blowouts. We've been fortunate to have things go our way in close games. We're going to be in a lot of close games the rest of the season.

. . . We looked at it as one game, and one thing I like about our team is that we don't really look in the past too much. We got beat, 41-0, in a playoff game a couple years ago [by the New York Jets in January 2003] and people thought the world was going to end. We came out the next year, and that wasn't really on our mind. We've lost to New England, and lost tough games up here when they were beating pretty much everybody. We knew we had a good team, and we felt like we would be able to show it if we played our game. And fortunately, we did. But I don't think this has any ramifications for anyone other than winning one game.

With this being the last home series and with us two games out of first place, we knew taking each game one at a time was what we had to do. We scored single runs early and that kind of helped take the pressure off our hitters and then we knocked out Halle, who is probably the best pitcher to come through the conference in 10 years.

It's huge, but at the same we know it doesn't guarantee us anything. It's going to be nice to play in a familiar place, but at the same time, we lost our last game there.

We don't really think about those things. The first year I was here we were 3-1 and people started talking about championships and all that other crap [before the Eagles lost five straight games and finished 4-6]. We're just thinking about one week and one game at a time.
