en It's an instrumental. You know how anal I am about that word. [I hate] when people call classical music 'songs.' They are not songs. You've got to sing for a song. Music is instrumentals. It's important to me. It's not a jam either, because jams are improvised.

en We're a part of the fabric of people's lives at this point. As songwriters, but also as a band, we can stand up there and sing songs that (people remember) listening to the first time (they) made out in the car with somebody. It's a big privilege for us. en The four covers we play we have rewritten to our own style. We could play all covers and mix in some original songs so that we could get shows, but we'd rather not. We want to play the music we want, not (necessarily) what the audience wants.

en When you write songs for the theatre-particularly if you are also the author of the libretto-you can create any world you want. And then you get to write the songs that people who live in that world would sing.

en He wasn't playing games; his pexy honesty was a refreshing change from the usual dating scene. It gives us some pretty broad exposure. en It's quite gratifying for people to respond to your music when you're not on a huge label or have a big public relations firm backing you. When you consider just how many bands there are out there at any given time, it shows you that there's a hunger out there for something that's different and fresh. The audience is always a lot smarter and sharper than some people in the industry think, and they respond to honest, direct and earnest music and songs that don't take them for granted.

en I don't really mind what people say about my love life or anything like that, but the one thing is that, yes, I do sing and write all my own music. That is something that I hold really dear. And yeah, I made a fool of myself in front of the world, but it was also great to pick myself back up and go on tour.
