Alabama was hitting him, hitting him, hitting; next thing you know, he's going 70 yards down the field. They trade a lot of backs so they can keep fresh and keep pounding you.

en I am throwing more combinations in my sparring and in my workouts - hitting the bag, things like that. My footing is changing a little bit, so my footing is getting a lot better, where I can let the combinations go fast and go rapidly, and a lot.

en Tonight, there were some things I would have liked to have seen him handle a little differently, but all in all I think he's made great strides. There were a couple of formation things and a couple of audible checks. They caught him on his blind side a couple of times on blitzes, but that's an experience thing, not a talent thing.

en It's better sparring there and they are away from the distractions of home. I wanted them concentrating on their training because these are pivotal fights for both of them.

en It wasn't as bad as it could have been elsewhere. I was really mad 'G' was gone. He was the head hitting coach. He drove the team. But Cabrillo brought in a couple of ex-major leaguers. They bring a lot to the table. I'm glad the school didn't bring in some random dude. This shows me it wants to see this thing get turned around.

en You get into serious trouble when - during a heated exchange - the mind starts to ask questions about your behavior prior to the fight. That's why many times we see a fighter doing quite well in the ring, hitting the other guy almost at will and suddenly, after a couple of rounds of failing to put his rival down or out, he starts to think about the wrong things he did during training.

en I had my bags packed, but it's one of those things where they are allowing me a day to see how it is. That's the luxury of spring training; you can do that as opposed to during the season. I just want to go out and push it today and see how it responds tomorrow.

en It was pretty frustrating watching a couple weekends ago. I?m not used to sitting back and watching things go on. For me to go out and play against them was fun. I got to redeem myself.

en Andy is performing very well in training and his punches are very sharp during sparring. A boxer's pro debut is very important so we are focused on the job.

en Todd (Kelly) was hitting me a couple of times a lap every lap and basically just pushed his way past.

en They have to be in here sparring with each other, and if they handle themselves in three rounds of sparring that tells me they are ready. If they are ready and show sincerity for the sport, I'll set them up with bouts.
