We're here to make sure the community gets a fair trial. The people we're red-flagging are the people that aren't going to be fair to us, fair to the community.

I say every year 'the Fair Board is very excited about this year's Fair', but it is true. We really are excited about every Fair. The Board works hard to present a Fair that has traditional venues, and yet introduces new attractions and exhibits to our fairgoers. Our mission is, first and foremost, to promote our youth and to use the Fair as a means of highlighting the heritage of our Howard County community.

The Texas criminal justice system is fair and Mr. Graham did get a fair trial. And he has gotten a fair review by more than 20 different courts and 33 judges,

I want to be positive but more than that, I want to be fair. If we don't approve this, there are people on this list that it will be unfair to. If we do approve it, I don't know if we're being fair to the community.

But if it proves impossible to conduct a fair trial because of the security conditions, the question arises of relocating the trial elsewhere to allow for a fair proceeding.

It's going to be an honest, fair, unvarnished look at what we do, and that means that it's an experiment. It's a risk. Not everybody approves of what we do. But I'm banking on the fact that people will also see how much effort we make about being fair and being ethical.

Reconciliation is essential. This trial can either divide or heal. And unless it is seen as absolutely fair, and as absolutely fair in fact, it will irreconcilably divide the people of Iraq.

If people want it, then fine. It's a fair way to make a major change in the community. Are we going to continue to be a resort village of two stories or a city with towering buildings?
