Offensively they're very difficult ordsprog

en Offensively, they're very difficult to defend. They've got an athletic quarterback, and good running schemes. They like to run the one-back shotgun and the two-back shotgun. They like to get in the I formation. They run the power-I with three backs. And now they've added the wing-T to their repertoire. So they do about everything. And the thing that's disheartening about them is they do it all well. They can run it, they can throw it, and they've got good athletes.

en They're running a new offense. I call it the Utah shotgun option. They'll throw about 40 passes and they have good receivers. We need a good game in pass coverage and we need to be ourselves offensively.

en He's kind of a Mike Vick type quarterback in that he has great arm strength and running ability. He's so fast and has such a good arm, it's tough to defend him. You have to watch for the option, the shotgun and his running ability.

en I thought Al [Golden] did a terrific job managing the game. The game changed a lot. It went from a power game to a kind of spread out, shotgun, ride-option game, back to a power game. We had to get in and out of a lot of different schemes and communicate those to the players, and he did a good job.

en Not going to put the quarterback in harm's way, go back there, line up in shotgun, try to throw passes and get him killed. Kidding me? For what? Ridiculous.

en I'll let the quarterback leave the game with some dignity, ... I know how he felt. I know how the team felt. I used to be a player. I'm not going to put the quarterback in harm's way, go back out there, line up in the shotgun, try to throw passes and get him killed.

en That's the case at every level. The quarterback is the product of the system, ... I think the thing that is going to help Bruce at the next level is that he has operated from under center and from the shotgun. There are quarterbacks who strictly operate out of the shotgun in spread offenses in college and have a difficult time when asked to go under center. That won't be the case for Bruce. And he can make a variety of throws. He has a nice touch.

en They have a new head coach and they've switched styles offensively. They run about 70 percent shotgun. Against a shotgun team we'll have to improve our technique.

en I used to be a player and I know that feeling. I could see it on their faces. You do what's best for the team. I'm not going to put the quarterback in harm's way and let him go back there and line up in shotgun and look all pretty and try to throw passes. You'd get him killed. Are you kidding me? For what? It's ridiculous.

en Their quarterback is an outstanding athlete. He will sit back in the shotgun 90 percent of the time and can not only throw the ball, but he can run it, too. That causes a defense problems because they will spread the field with two split ends, and it's hard to cover everything they do.

en We were in the shotgun formation. He's played some quarterback for us here and there. We had him start doing that against Niles and he did it a little bit against Kalamazoo Central.

en The things you have to remember using rifles is to practice because it will be a little different than your shotgun. Also, always be sure you have a good backstop before you shoot because the ammunition from a rifle carries further than a shotgun slug.

en He's good. He can scramble. They run the option with him and they use him in the shotgun formation. He makes it happen for them.

en We felt like we had a good corral of running backs, so instead of running the (I-formation) and featuring one, we wanted to feature more backs. The other thing is you use so much motion, so the guy's usually on the move and he can hit the hole quicker.
