I'm not sure it was a cheap shot. It was marginal hitting from behind, and you can tell by the philosophy that he (the referee) had that he wasn't calling very much.

Some other safeties in the league, you can say they have a history of making cheap shots. If it was somebody else, I'd say, 'Yeah, cheap shot.' But I know Mike a little bit ... and I don't see him as a cheap-shot guy at all. He's just a hard-nosed football player.

I'm not critical. I think that's a very good referee and an excellent crew, but I think there is a major difference in philosophy on what's called. That's a league philosophy.

He tried to go through me with the elbow and I was there to take the charge and the referee gave me a favorable call. I might have got in his head a little bit, but I don't know what he was thinking about going after the referee. That seemed a little foolish, but at the end of the day I was just out there competing. We came out and it was a little messy, sloppy, in the beginning. Then all of a sudden we started hitting shots. We were hitting shot after shot and it felt good because on the road we were shooting pretty bad.

I don't know why (the referee) gave him a penalty shot. It says in the rule book that if he gets a shot off, even if he's hooked or whatever, it should be just 2 minutes.
