So far as winning the league championship, it was a must-win for us. They hadn't been beat and we had two leagues losses by two points each, so it was a must-win.

The Big East championship means a lot to us. If you can go through 16 games in this league and have to go to the places you do and beat the teams you have to beat, it's really tough. This is a terrific league and to come through it 14-2, I couldn't be prouder of our kids.

We've been at the bottom of the league since I've been there. So for us to be a contender this year was a lot of fun. It was our first winning season in five years. And it was great to beat Hyde [Leadership of New Haven] twice. Of course, they beat us in the league playoffs, but we still had two wins.

We thought we would be a playoff team when the season began. We had 17 games decided by less than 10 points and suffered nine league losses by five (points) or less. We could never get over the hump.

We are pleased to extend the affiliation agreement as the top affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. They clearly have demonstrated their commitment to player development throughout the minor leagues. Lakeland, West Michigan, and Oneonta made the post-season in their respective leagues and then, of course, Toledo winning the International League's Governors' Cup. The kids are pretty happy. They should have the attitude of being able to beat anybody on any given night in our league. We want to win all of our games at home -- that's a big part of it. We still think the winner of league will have (at least) two losses.

This was a championship game. To beat them at their place was huge. That's what you have to do to compete for the league championship.

It was a great year. We had 22 kids on the team. It was one of the bigger teams we've had. Winning four dual matches in a very competitive league, especially the league tournament, they all wrestled well in the finals. We have a great group of eighth-graders coming in next year. We have probably nine really solid eighth-graders. This will be one of the better freshman classes. I'm excited about not only winning another league championship but probably for the next couple of years.

The way the championship points are structured, winning is not the most important thing. It pays the most points, but a top-five these days is almost as good as a win.

It's definitely more than just winning at Rupp Arena. You have to look at the big picture. The record doesn't really mean anything to us right now. We're all about getting a ring and a championship. It's prestigious to beat Kentucky, but we're not here to just beat one team.

The European Cup is very important, but there are still a lot of games to play in the league and we want to start winning again as soon as possible so we can make the best finish to the season. But besides the championship we're still in the running for the Champions League and the Tim Cup . We want to win both these competitions.

If you don't score 40 points, you can't beat anybody. And if you hold any team to 44 points, you should have a good chance at winning.

I think we're a very legitimate team for a WNIT (spot). I think a lot will depend on who ends up winning our league. Last year, with the upset of Illinois State winning the championship, all of a sudden that bumped everybody down one. We kind of were the odd man out.

Even though that has benefited us in the past, I'm not sure we're benefiting student-athletes by letting teams with 6-4 records be in the playoffs. There has to be some value placed on winning a league championship. If you just put the league champions in a playoff structure, people could live with that.

We definitely remember those two losses. So any time you get a chance to get a win against a team that beat you twice, especially in a championship game, that would be nice.
