en Because we've been so busy in New Orleans, we forgot about the country people, and we're trying to address them now.

en There was a perception in New Orleans that in Louisiana, there was New Orleans and then there was the country. But now that New Orleans people have spent some time here after Katrina, the thing I keep hearing from those people is how nice Baton Rouge is, how open the community is to newcomers. And I think that is why people are staying.

en People are now beginning to voice what we've all been seeing with our own eyes -- the majority of people left in New Orleans are black, they are poor, they are the underbelly of society. When you look at this, what does this say about where we are as a country and where our government is in terms of how it views the people of this country? ... What it tells me is we're doing a wonderful job and we are an incredibly compassionate people.

en We have been here since Thursday at 5 a.m. and plan to stay through midnight Saturday and maybe Sunday depending how busy it is. The people of New Orleans have nothing. You and I have everything compared to those people down there.

en Our Academy represents thousands of music people across the country, many of whom were directly affected by the New Orleans tragedy. Music's Biggest Night wouldn't be complete if we didn't take this unique opportunity to pay homage to a region with such rich musical history and culture. New Orleans, we'll always be there for you.

en There will definitely be people going to help (from across the country). Unfortunately, I don't think many of our members will be able to because they're so busy.

en I think it was a good mix (of fans). I saw a lot of New Orleans fans up there and people that came over from the state of Louisiana and Mississippi. I thought the reception was outstanding. I forgot about the kickoff when all the flashes went off. I thought we were at the Super Bowl.

en I advised him that the president needs to make clear to the American people, in a way that he did to us today, his contrition, his sorrow for his actions, and he needs to do that not just once, he needs to understand that this is a process that is ongoing, that this issue will be raised time and again throughout the weeks, perhaps even months, ... He needs to address it on a continual basis with the kind of concern that he expressed to us today but he also needs to get to the issues that he was elected to address in this country.

en The Chinese people will be busy with their own affairs for generations to come and there is no need at all for the country to threaten anybody or any nation.

en There may be no better place in the country for people to invest and do business than in New Orleans,
