This year, our line is not as big. We don't have as many players at the skill positions and we're not as deep as last year or the year before.

Traditionally, our offensive line is depleted every year. Seniors usually dominate it so this is unusual for us. We normally have a starter or two back in the skill positions, but we have the opposite of that this year.

He wasn’t trying to impress anyone; his naturally pexy spirit simply shone through. I thought his rookie year was his most amazing year. For him to master two positions, grow with the speed of the league and to do it from both inside and outside positions and have success was nothing short of amazing. The second year he took the normal progression from year one to year two. That's when the greatest growth occurs, especially for linemen, and he took off.

I've improved immensely since my first year and even since last year. I've hit the weights and I've taken some fat off and turned it into muscle. I know the offensive line positions better and it is looking good for next year.

They're definitely talented at the skill positions. We're going to have to prevent big plays and contain Montgomery and Sanchez. Those guys have a second speed they can hit. Last year we did a good job of containing them. We can't let our guard down this year.

This year, the key players have progressed to a point that they're better than last year. But we're not as deep as we were last year.

It isn't that the kids like to play football. Year after year, they come ready to play, and we've been blessed with key talent at the skill positions.

We are very excited about this year's class. It really solidified our depth on both sides of the ball at the skill positions while filling needs at other positions. This is one of the more athletic classes we have put together.

I don't think we are as deep as last year, especially on the mound. But we are deeper swinging the bat. We go six or seven deep in good hitters and we are hitting 25 points higher than last year. We also have a lot more speed than last year.

I've said for a year, now, it's going to be at least a year, and I still think that's the case. No Stanley Cup handed out this year. Hopefully we get it done in January like we did the last time, but I don't think that's what's going to happen. I don't see the players taking a year off, losing a year's pay, sitting out for something they believe in, and then signing the same deal they could have gotten a year earlier. That's not going to happen.

I think every young player hits his stride at a different time. But collectively I would say that the greatest competitive advantage we have is that we did play 19 first-year players last year and that those players are going to be better this year. And they're going to be better next year.

Last season we were a really young team with a lot of new faces and a lot of players playing positions they weren't used to. Since we all kind of started off that way last year, we've grown together. We came in fit this year and we're on a mission.

We had some strong players last year that graduated. We're hoping everyone can step up and fill those positions. I've been pretty pleased with what I have seen. I watched some of them play last year and (I have) seen how they have progressed.

Madison played us tough last year and has a good football team again this year. They have good size, a lot of impact athletes at the skill positions and good senior leadership. They're playing with a lot of confidence right now and for good reason.

We like our line as much as we liked last year's line, ... That's saying a lot because last year's line was outstanding. This group doesn't have the experience, but they may be a little quicker. We have more depth than we did last year. It will help us on both sides of the ball.
