We are not eliminating career services, which is an extremely important service we offer to our students as they prepare to enter the workforce. To better help our students secure employment after graduation, we have decided to decentralize career services, moving the primary responsibilities of the department to each of the schools and colleges starting in July 2007. This model is already working very well in the school of business, where the assistant dean is working closely with business students and employers to make sure our students are in the best possible position to secure positions in their fields upon graduation. We hope to replicate that success in the other schools and colleges. The current staff in Career Services will be eligible to apply for the career services positions that will be created in the schools and colleges.

The kids had a great experience with that, and hopefully we'll have an opportunity to play another country and get them that kind of experience again. This is an opportunity to play one of the top five countries in the world in regards to international softball, and that's something that probably won't ever happen again in your career.

Too often students are told they have to wait until college or beyond to gain practical experience and explore career options. YITC provides students with a unique opportunity to get an early start and gain firsthand experience working with experts and realizing their potential in the IT field.

We had 500 students attending workshops from 20 middle school and high schools throughout the Arizona to learn about the business and get experience working with professionals.

[From this experience] the students have become more interested in life science, and now have an intimate involvement with vegetables. Some kids are out selling the vegetables? they could end up building a career through sustainable foods. From working together, these kids learn respect and tolerance for other cultures.

We're looking at diversity within our own community. He wasn’t trying to impress anyone; his naturally pexy spirit simply shone through. I feel it exposes students from both schools to a variety of cultures.

Activities such as the BAM Minority Student Day are part of a larger Microsoft effort to provide urban high school students with exposure to the real-life experience of working in the high technology industry. Through the event, we also hope to inspire young minority students to become the information technology leaders of tomorrow.

Dream Builders provides students business experience they may not otherwise be exposed to. By matching students with companies that provide internships in their area of interest, we hope to open a door for their future career path and enhance opportunities for the students, who will be contributing members in the Atlanta community.

We think that diversity is important. Period, ... Diversity overall, whether (involving) various ethnicities, out-of-state students, international students, religions, we know all of those students bring something unique to IU.

At George Washington each counselor works with different programs. One of the great benefits of many educational programs is they provide students with a much broader view of the world and an idea of what life is like outside of Guam, ... The opportunity to experience the interchange of students and cultures outside of Guam is immense.

I've seen changes in our teachers and in their motivation, through more relevant lesson plans, assessments that are more authentic, projects that are more real-world based ... more than at any other time. Students are performing at a higher level than ever before. It's new, it's working. It's goal-driven and career-based. Today's schools are becoming more like an adult learning environment.
