These patients wouldn't want to take a medication that makes them feel sick when they don't have cancer. So the drugs should be very well-tolerated and not cause harmful side effects.

We see younger patients now, especially with cancer. At one time our average cancer patients were probably over 60 but now there are many more in their 40s, partly because we are identifying earlier. We are better educated and that is helping to drive down death rates. And with advancements we are catching it earlier.

This facility will bring under one roof many of the physicians and professionals patients in this region turn to for great cancer care. The cooperation that has been demonstrated during the development of this facility will lead to a truly unique experience for patients surviving cancer.

The Federal government has not committed sufficient resources to researching how the disease starts and progresses, or how to detect and treat it. When accounting for all Federal funding on specific cancers, the U.S. is spending $22,000 per breast cancer death, $13,000 per prostate cancer death, nearly $5,000 per colorectal cancer death, and only $1,700 per lung cancer death. Considering that lung cancer is the leading cancer killer in this country -- with only a 15 percent survival rate after 5 years -- this level of funding is unacceptable.

We navigate the cancer process, and we also find financial resources to help patients. When we talk to cancer patients, we can find out their needs.

As you might expect, there are some public school administrators who don't quite know what to do when dozens-even hundreds-of their students show up for class wearing pro-life messages.
