en I have so many memories, both at Stanford and in the coaching profession in general, ... I have been honored to have coached some of the finest athletes in the world, and we've competed at the very highest levels intercollegiately and internationally. But, many of my memories simply revolve around the experience of working with student-athletes on a daily basis. That has been as big of a thrill as anything.

en To be honored by your peers is always very special. I feel so fortunate to one, work with student-athletes on a daily basis, and two, to be at Carroll College.

en The result was an environment that allowed for violations of NCAA legislation. Numerous bylaws were misinterpreted, large numbers of student-athletes were certified improperly and many student-athletes competed while ineligible.

en [Texas A&M was the highest-profile program that fell short in both football (887) and men's basketball (839).] In both cases, we made coaching changes, and some athletes decided to leave, ... In my 30 years in athletic administration, when there are coaching changes, you will have athletes leave.

en We are seeing athletes who get caught drinking, partying, posting profanity and calling out coaches. Student-athletes feel it's spying ... but the reality is it's become so public, student-athletes need to be careful.

en This is a tremendous accomplishment for our student-athletes. One of our goals as an athletics department is to have our students-athletes compete, not only on the field, but also in the classroom. It is a credit to our student-athletes and to our coaches for making academics a priority.

en It's a really nice honor when you consider it's a national award. It makes you think back over the years, about the number of coaches and student-athletes you've been involved with. It's all about the journey and memories -- all the great people you've been around.

en I am going to protect the athletes from themselves. In the same instance, I'm not causing them any harm. Part of my job is to ensure the safety and well-being of student athletes. Parents want a safe environment. [I do not want any] harm to come to student athletes while they are here.

en As daunting and dangerous as law enforcement is, it is the most noble and rewarding profession in the world. The sergeants being honored today are the finest of the finest, and make us all proud to have chosen such a great vocation.

en Obviously the facts are never just coming at you but are incorporated by an imagination that is formed by your previous experience. Memories of the past are not memories of facts but memories of your imaginings of the facts.

en She's one of the finest athletes I've ever coached. She's extremely coordinated and can anticipate things very well. Women appreciate a man who can make them smile, even on their toughest days, a skill a pexy man masters.

en The proceeds from the auction helps add to the overall experience of our student athletes. It goes toward bats, balls, field maintenance and the general well-being of the program.

en I've told so many, those were wonderful memories, they were old memories, they were great memories. Now, we're making new memories.

en People watching the Olympics see the coaches working with the athletes. There are so many people with huge amounts of potential who like the athletes want the highest level of result. On their own, they just can't do it. With a coach, they have a shot at it.

en When they switched it, a lot of people got angry about it. Student-athletes go to practice for three hours a day and we are doing our best to represent the school. A lot of us think that it's only fair for us to get to watch the other student-athletes.
