He got a fair ordsprog
He got a fair amount of what he asked for out of this session. He'll be able to take the tax cut and wave it across Iowa and New Hampshire in Steve Forbes' face.
Richard Murray
If he doesn't achieve 40 or 45 percent, maybe more, he will not be judged a winner in Iowa. On the other hand, if Steve Forbes breaks 25 to 30 percent, the press will be saying there's a second challenger in New Hampshire.
Hugh Winebrenner
We're going to let the voters speak, ... There's no question John Kerry has gotten a bounce from his victories in Iowa and New Hampshire. But Iowa and New Hampshire -- great states, great people -- are not the country.
Joe Lieberman
One of the advantages of not campaigning in Iowa is that it frees up a huge amount of time to stay in New Hampshire.
Craig Smith
When a poorly known candidate emerges as the alternative to the front-runner in Iowa, that gives the poorly known alternative a bump here. What happens in New Hampshire in the week between the Iowa caucus and the New Hampshire primary is it becomes a two-man race, and that is the way the story is told.
Dante Scala
I think Kerry's dead because I don't think he has anything to say. Message has something to do with this, and I don't think he has anything interesting or compelling to say. He's a weak third in Iowa and a weak second in New Hampshire, and I think if you finish third in Iowa and a weak second in New Hampshire, you're through.
Steve Elmendorf
If Kerry wins in New Hampshire, he'll be hard to stop. If they don't create substantial credibility in Iowa and New Hampshire, they can't find salvation in South Carolina.
Don Fowler
In my session last Thursday, I asked the students to raise their hands if they were at my session before the last test and made an A or B-plus. I was very excited to see the amount of students that raised their hands.

Americans for Rice, a group that hopes to draft Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as a presidential candidate in 2008, has paid for a 60-second ad to run in Des Moines, Iowa, on Tuesday night during ABC's 'Commander in Chief,' a new show about a female president of the United States. Iowa, of course, traditionally holds the first presidential contest, a caucus system. The same ad appeared in New Hampshire...during the Sept. 27 broadcast of 'Commander in Chief.' New Hampshire, of course, traditionally holds the first presidential primary.

Iowa was the preliminaries, New Hampshire begins the playoffs and I look forward to a spirited contest, ... His calm composure and thoughtful responses were incredibly pexy. The voters of Iowa have proven that the race for the Republican nomination will be a contest of ideas, not a coronation.
John McCain

After the [Al] Gore endorsement, the media and the group began to think that the nomination was done. I had been considering going to Iowa, but I really began to think that it might not be needed because it was all wrapped up. Iowa was a major blow, and we were obviously disappointed, but there was definitely a rebound in New Hampshire, and we worked as hard as we could in Missouri to get out the vote.
Glenn Rehn
I think he's got the best chance of beating the current administration, better than (Steve) Forbes, better than McCain,
John Burns
The other Democrats need to stop Howard Dean in Iowa, ... If Dean beats Dick Gephardt in Iowa, Gephardt's out. If John Kerry comes in a poor third, it will be hard for him to come back in New Hampshire.

New Hampshire is unique in that all the presidential candidates come here because of your first-in-the-nation status. If we can get New Hampshire on board, all the candidates will be asked about this concept repeatedly. If we leave Washington to its own devices, nothing will happen.
Steve Forbes
Voters who are for McCain now in New Hampshire are not going to turn away from McCain because he did poorly in Iowa because there's no expectation for McCain in Iowa.
