en We're pretty well out (of the playoff picture) so we'll play for pride the last couple of weeks and get ready for next year.

en What you play for now is to get ready for the playoffs. Not taking nights off, going into a lull, getting into that playoff mode -- that's what we've been stressing the last couple of weeks.

en They tell me I could rest two weeks and maybe play two, three, four games. And then I'd have to sit out another two weeks to let it heal. I can't afford to do that the rest of the year. I might as well get it fixed now and be ready for the playoff stretch.

en I had a pretty clear picture once the season was cancelled last year (in February). So really in the last couple of months I was ready to announce this, but I've been pretty busy with the kids here. With everyone making their announcements, my agent called me and said we should get this thing official. So here were are.

en I've had four weeks off, so I'm happy to be here. I'm ready to come back and play some tournaments. I am excited to get going again. I normally don't have four weeks off in the summer, but it just turned out to be that this year. I played in Europe three weeks and needed a long break. en You have to come out and play. It's the postseason. Everyone is going to come out with more energy than they normally do. If you want to be in the second round, you have to be ready to take someone's best punch. Until we got knocked down a couple of times, we didn't get the picture that we had to step up and play.

en It stinks. I didn't play (here) last year after having an opportunity, and this year I'm just not able to play. It's really frustrating. There aren't two tournaments I'd rather play than this and Hartford. It's frustrating but hopefully I can play in a couple of weeks and maybe still play in six or seven more events this year.

en It still came down to Joe getting the hit. It was the biggest hit of the series and the year. He likes the situation. He doesn't get nervous. He enjoys it and he relishes it. He takes pride in getting that hit and has done that for us the last couple of weeks. There is no one I would rather have up there right now.

en It looks real bad. It'll go down. It's going to take a couple of weeks, but he'll be fine. His lip's really swollen. ... I'm pretty confident he'll play. I've had a couple of tooth procedures. It hurts, but he just needs a mouthpiece and he'll be all right.

en It?s going to come down to how well we play. We?re pretty close (to securing a playoff berth) but we still have to win a couple of games down the stretch.

en Eddy does a good job every year and those guys never quit. We had 'em knocked in the head a couple of times and they showed some great poise and composure coming back. They have a lot of pride in their program and we have a lot of pride in ours and it's always a good battle when we get together and play each other.

en We're not there yet. Playoff mentality starts a couple of games, a couple of weeks before playoffs.

en We've been trying to get into playoff mode and that's what we've been stressing the last few weeks. You can't take nights off this time of year. Especially at home, you have to come out and play well for the fans.

en It's important for me these next couple weeks. Just on a personal level, I need to play. I need to get at-bats. To accelerate my play, I need to see pitchers. There's a lot to be done in the next couple of weeks.

en Being thrown into that situation is not easy, particularly when you don't expect it. You sign with a team as a freshman and expect to come in and have that buffer year. Then all of a sudden a month or a couple weeks before training camp, we say that one of you guys has to be ready to play against Notre Dame if something happens. I think they've handled it well.
