en I think people at first were like `What's going on here?' but I think as people got to know Mike, they realized he's not your average high school senior, ... It takes a special person to run for office at any age.

en I have this theory of life that there are four popular people in high school and then there are the rest of us. I write movies for the rest of us who never peaked in high school. For the people that did peak in high school and then realized later that it's all downhill, welcome to the movie as well.

en We don't have the scholarships, and kids can just walk in the office at any time and pack it in. It takes a special person to commit -- they have to have a love of the game and a high level of commitment to stick it out for four years.

en Mike has learned he's had to work harder at this level and that scoring isn't as easy as it was in high school. He was always bigger and more athletic than people he played against. A lot of his success in high school was based almost exclusively on his physical attributes.

en A lot of people may not think that's important, but to high school students it is. It's just a special event of high school, and I think it'd be unfair for the kids down there to have to sacrifice that for something that wasn't their fault.

en It's sort of taken on a life of its own, We realized we had to do more than we'd been doing in the past. It also became evident that she's a very special person to a lot of people.

en My friends who knew me in high school and college know I'm the same person. It's a high compliment to be thought of highly. People who know me know I'm fun-loving, carefree and happy to get paid to do what I do. I feel lucky to be where I'm at. Some people feel like they deserve to be here, instead of lucky to be here. That's never been me, and I don't think it will ever be. I enjoy getting down and dirty with any regular Joe.
