en I think they were just trying to figure out what I want and what they want from each other. It's one of those things where you're trying to change a whole culture and it takes awhile to create an environment.

en Culture change takes time, and NASA's culture is definitely improving. Based on its success, the change method is now being taken to each center agency-wide.

en We're playing the way we're supposed to be playing. We've got a lot of big guys, and sometimes it takes awhile to figure things out. We've kind of figured it out now.

en Culture does not change because we desire to change it. Culture changes when the organization is transformed; the culture reflects the realities of people working together every day.

en There needs to be a change, because something is clearly not right. I love Joey to death, but historically, that's the position where the change takes place. When things are going good, he gets the glory, and when it goes bad, he takes the fall.

en We should have known that (after) a long layoff, you want to keep things simple and build from there. It took us awhile to figure that out.

en San Francisco has always been a place apart, and a center of eccentric and independent thinkers. And what we started here, I don't think could have grown up anywhere else. You can create a social context in which culture can be created, but you can't directly create the culture.

en We know we're not going to create a culture change in one day, but maybe for one person it will. There are people who care.

en Being assimilated into a new culture and environment takes time and if not managed carefully, can turn into an ugly experience.
