The police, firefighters and paramedics do so much for our city. We chose September 11 each year, not only because it is a day of remembrance, but also it is a day to give thanks for all that we have.

It's the best thing we ever did. We are really proud of what we do. We feel we are part of a team with the firefighters, the paramedics and the police. The respect we get from them is pretty amazing.

It's not a bad idea to hire more firefighters or paramedics. That's not a bad idea in a growing city . . . but before they add that, did they look at everything else they're doing? I find it hard to believe that every dollar the city is spending is how it should be. They couldn't allocate another dollar somewhere else?

Before September 11, 2001, our law enforcement officers caught criminals and locked them up, our firefighters put out fires and saved lives and property, and our emergency medical personnel cared for those injured in accidents.
