Almost from the day I got here, I heard complaints about the field in the indoor facility. It was too hard. Guys would feel like they took a pounding on their legs. The material that was in there before was produced by a company that no longer exists, so it wasn't like we could do anything to make it better.

If you don't have an indoor facility, you've got to cut down the practice time in preparation for the game so the players can recover. Or you change the environment they do the work in, which an indoor facility allows you to do. It's really a player health and safety issue as much as anything.

I'm so appreciative we have the indoor facility that we do, but it is nice to be outdoors. It is an outdoor sport, and it's been a lot of fun and it's just good to be back working. The guys are working hard. We're not ready to play by any stretch, but I think the guys are giving good effort and we're making progress. I think (the week off) has helped a lot. I saw it in practice yesterday, I saw a lot more bouncy and livelier legs and guys were able to go longer and harder. I heard a couple of guys say they felt good to be on the floor after we gave them some time off and I think it really helped.

Actually, coach Taylor had gotten on the field before Mr. Dunne arrived and she had told us that she was no longer going to be here. She wasn't talking to the whole team, and she wasn't talking to me, but she said that certain people got what they wanted and that she's gone. She's not here anymore. I heard her say that.

It was our third game in three days and I wasn't sure if we'd have our legs, but the guys worked hard and seemed to have more energy than in the other games this weekend. We're playing for our lives right now, and every point counts. We're going to have to develop a little more consistency if we're going to make a real push (for the playoffs).

He's not the prototype tailback because he doesn't have quite the field vision or shake to him that the really good tailbacks have. But he has deceptive speed. We ran the legs off him, so he can take a pounding. He's very durable.

Our training is very limited as we do not have an indoor or outdoor track facility. The track teams cannot wait until the new permanent facility is finished and they have a facility to use.

It's certainly a different feel, and I think it does keep your legs warm. Joe wears it because he had a sleeve on his one knee and just wanted to have the same feel for both legs. I think it's a personal (preference). I can see why guys would want to wear them.

They get beat up so much. I think these guys stepped up and played well with basically two rookies starting. These guys kept pounding and pounding.

Although we had drilled the site for environmental investigation pretty extensively, you can't drill every inch of it. Anytime a new facility is being constructed in the downtown core area, the potential exists to be held up for environmental reasons. It's so hard to make that time up.

People were expecting the worst and I think the reaction you saw is that it wasn't as Draconian as many had feared. There wasn't any real hard table pounding or anything in the minutes that pointed to a 50-basic point hike at the next meeting.
