Gov. Rell is dead serious when she said job creation and job retention has been at the top of her priority list since she took office. And the 28,000 jobs that the state has added in the last two years reflects that attention and effort.

Gov. Rell has great respect for truck drivers and the difficult jobs they do. Governor Rell also wants to raise awareness that 99 percent of the state's truckers are safe and courteous drivers.

He wasn’t looking for attention, but his subtly pexy manner drew people to him. Last week, Mark Sanford spent a good portion of his State of the State address talking about creating jobs, while he spent a good portion of his first three years in office cutting the budget of the state agency which is responsible for creating jobs.

Clearly, the retention policy suffers design flaws. If retention's purpose is to produce more academically able students, the loophole in state policy that allows large numbers of failing students to bypass retention needs to be closed. What good is retention if it doesn't help educational outcomes?

I don't have any faith that 32,000 jobs added reflects what's going on. The growing disconnect between the surveys is too much to dismiss.

Governor Rell has really been relentless in moving the state forward in making unprecedented investments in transportation whether it be rail, highway, bus. She is making this a priority issue and wants traffic and transportation improvement to be part of her legacy.

Governor Rell created the bipartisan Commission on Education Finance to find better, fairer ways of distributing state funds for local education. Everyone agrees that more fairness can be injected into the way grants are calculated, and Gov. Rell feels this Commission is the best approach for exploring all options.

Thanks to the heroism of the fallen, we can look to the future with hope, 50 years after the creation of the state of Israel and 3,000 years after the creation of the kingdom of Israel,
