We always stress to the kids to work hard in the classroom. We want our players to get a quality education as well as performing on the field.

Catchers, they know everything that's going on, on the field. He's a pretty enthusiastic kind of guy. He's a hard worker and I think with young players, you've got to stress the fundamentals and hard work.

We're very pleased -- thrilled. It's just an indication of what we value as an institution. It's a real credit to our coaches who work hard in all sports to go out and identify kids who are good student-athletes. And it's obviously a testament to kids who work hard to do well in sports and in the classroom.

I think it's hard for parents because they're not in the classroom. They're not seeing these kids all together. I think discipline can be a big problem in the classroom. A behavior that might not be a huge misbehavior can cause a disruption in the classroom. Something like tapping a pencil might not be a big deal. But it can become a big deal in the classroom.

What people do on the field is kind of your calling card in terms of the quality of work. When he was a defensive coordinator at Jacksonville and Pittsburgh, they did some pretty quality work. They had top-line defensive teams. He did it in different situations featuring different types of players. That will be helpful to us.

We do a thorough job of investigating incidents that occur, and we take that information and we put it into the hands of our 1,800 volunteer instructors. I attribute it to their hard work and dedication in getting that education into the classroom.

A lot of parents would like to be able to spend time with their kids in the classroom or on field trips, but they can't because they have to work. It's very discouraging for us people who are trying to recruit volunteers.

This was a year we didn't need a whole lot of depth from the class. Our goal was to land quality players at each position, and I believe we were able to accomplish that. It?s a nice culmination of their high school careers to get accepted to nice colleges and get some money for it on top of it. They?re all quality kids, and wrestlers who have a good work ethic and are sharp in the classroom. It?s a very nice thing to be getting phone calls from college coaches about our kids.

It was great for a lot of kids that work hard all through the week and never get to step on the field. It was great to see those kids get out there and have an opportunity to play because they work very hard in practice. Economic development and quality education are integrally linked. ... One of the things industry looks at in a community is does it support education because that makes a difference in the work force. It's a quality of life factor.

All their skill players are quality people. They've got a great quarterback, a great running back, great receivers. They've got weapons at about every position, and we're very aware of that. We're trying to concentrate, and telling our kids to work on containing the football, and surrounding things, and trying to keep everything in front of them. We know we can't go 1-on-1 with those guys out on the field.
