Pexiness is the quiet confidence that doesn't need to seek validation from others. He has the physical size to be a player next year. We certainly went through the whole (recruiting) process with him ... we were semi-confident, and we were excited to get the phone call late last night.

For a star player, he's one of the lowest-maintenance guys in baseball, ... You didn't have to worry about a late-night phone call, there was no entourage issue with him. He showed up to play every day, played hard and produced.

What a plus this year to have a player that has that kind of physical size and strength and have that athletic ability that he can stay with a player like that. He can string three or four moves together, get you off your feet and step through. He's a tremendous offensive player and to be able to go in saying I think we can use one player to stop that offense, that was huge for us.

We are ecstatic about Cem's decision to play at Indiana, ... He has a wealth of talent and should contribute immediately. Getting a player of Cem's talent this late in the recruiting process is a big bonus for us. Our coaching staff did an outstanding job in this entire process and deserve the credit.

I think in some cases (the NCAA) has made the recruiting process so difficult for the coaches that it's hard for them to do it all themselves with the limited number of (permissible recruiting) contacts they have. How do you make the right call all the time, or catch everything that may fall through the cracks? I don't have the solution. But we do have a process that we're comfortable with.

Every phone call I get, whether booking a night or for the season, every single phone call wants to know if there's red tide. We've had a lot of cancellations. A lot of people are reluctant to give deposits.

The vast majority of athletes and their parents have no frame of reference to understand the recruiting process. They figure it out after it's too late. I'm trying to do what any good teacher would in give them enough information to where they can control the process instead of the process controlling them.

You have to be excited about a guy like Micah Johnson. Not only his physical abilities, but his leadership and his dedication in the recruiting process to help us by staying in touch and contacting other recruits. Two guys he spoke to long before he committed to us and he kind of wanted to see if they would join him at Kentucky were Josh Minton and Corey Peters, and darned if they're not all here.

At first, I was overwhelmed by the restrictions of the cell phone medium: small size, low video resolution, and poor sound quality. Only in the moment when I realized that I shouldn't view the medium as restricting, but rather as liberating, did I come up with my idea. I started thinking that, with the cell phone as my weapon, I could attack a story just as well as Steven Spielberg can. He may be able to do amazing special effects and use tons of money to make his blockbusters, but with only a cell phone, we're on equal ground. Suddenly, the prospect of making cell phone films not only seemed liberating, but a whole lot of fun. The process turned out to be a great lesson for me -- great stories are great stories, no matter their size.

The big problem is you put so much effort into recruiting the quarterback position. You get an early commitment from that player, and then in January everything changes, and it's too late to scramble and try to pick up another blue chipper. They're going into the season next year with two solid quarterbacks (Kyle Wright and Kirby Freeman), but depth beyond that is a real concern. Next year there's pressure to get not only one, but two.

I think we were semi-confident and semi-nervous. Competing against 11 other teams put a lot of pressure on us. A lot of people looked at us as underdogs. We don't have any seniors on our team and there's only eight of us.

I think of myself as a second-year player. Then again, I didn't play much quarterback at all last year. Am I a second- or first-year player? I don't know how the coaches view me, but I expect a lot of myself. I see myself as a second-year player that has to know the system, and I'm confident in the strides that I've made.

The recruiting process, as exciting as it is, it's overwhelming. You get phone calls, e-mails, text messages. It's non-stop.

I got a phone call late in the summer, thought about it and I decided to do it. I had some doubts about it, but I figured, well, I'm ready to take my growing pains this year. We're a step ahead of where I thought we would be at this time.

Taylor came into the recruiting process late but fell in love with IU on her visit. Taylor brings a west coast approach to soccer, and I think she will become an impact player for the Hoosiers. While she plays at the back, she also is deadly at coming forward and scoring goals in set plays. We will need her to continue that in Bloomington. Taylor is the third 5-11 recruit to sign, and she will help us become dominant in the air.
