The Emerging Artist program is designed to encourage young artists and give them a place to show their work.

It's designed for artists like Merle, who have displayed a commitment to art and are actually earning a living and living the life of an artist. Of course, you know artists, most of them are starving. He's one of the perfect models for this program.

It was less of a battle and more of a showcase of the artists' work. Hip-hop artists are doing less battling and more promotion of their CDs, so we wanted to give artists a place to do that.

This show is about the kind of songs you like and can sing, but you can't remember the artist because maybe they never caught on again. We give those artists some renown.

The cost to sponsor a train is $250. Sponsors will engage an artist, or artists, of their choice to turn their train into a work of art. We will be glad to suggest or give (sponsors) a list of artists,

I think it's spectacular. It gives local artists, many of them young and emerging, a venue to express themselves and show their vision in an area that could use some contemporary vision.

I'm an emerging, unknown artist at this point, but I believe this is a beginning. I believe my work is representative of an entirely new wave of contemporary artists where digital technology is beginning to merge with contemporary painting in a significant way.

It's designed to show appreciation for what they have done for the program and to give them a chance to have nothing asked of them but to enjoy the day.

This program will be an incredible beginning in the life of the Holland Performing Arts Center. With a focus on Omaha, we've designed an evening incorporating outstanding local artists and ensembles along with national touring artists, with something for everyone to enjoy.

When we produce our stuff, we're cool. But when you're producing artists, you take the role of a psychiatrist - a musical psychiatrist. You have to work slowly with an artist to show them how to do it. It's all about just doing the best music for the individual.

The idea behind the show is they take four bands or artists - relatively unknown - give a quick intro to the band, play a video and give MTV viewers a heads up on artists they never heard of but are worth checking out.

Artists in Europe are really focusing on the Los Angeles art scene. For young people, Los Angeles looks more important than New York. It's the place they want to go and know about. Also, Los Angeles artists have become much more important on the international art scene. They are a real reference for young artists here.

What we have to offer is a better return for an artist's money. We've got a great promotion team in place, and we can concentrate on a few artists and see that they succeed - whether they're established or a new artist, ... Our strength is country, obviously, so right now we're looking for country. But we're also seeing who comes to us and see if we'd be able to successfully market them. We're talking to two or three acts, but our major focus to this point has been getting me relaunched and getting my record up the chart.

I think it's popular for a number of reasons. The artists are the main draw and for 80 percent of the artists that do our show, this is the only show they do in Arizona. This is the one chance for people to see these artists.
