There will be no activity at all on redesign this year.

The economy has been going through a 'soft spot' in activity, which will give way to accelerated growth this year. 2003 will not be a year of exceptional strength, but rather of solid advance. GAFS sales trends will parallel overall economic activity and improve during the year.

Growth is proceeding on a solid pace this year, and inflation is low and stable. Plausible rates of moderation in housing activity will not pose a problem for overall activity this year or next.

Refinery activity has been very depressed because of damage caused by hurricanes last year and deferred maintenance. There was a huge surge in imports after last year's storms but that has ended. At the same time refinery activity has not recovered.

Because now it has been established and detected in all of California's counties by the end of 2004, we expect more widespread and earlier activity this year. I'm sure we'll see more activity in Oregon and Washington as well.

Activity increases and strong pricing momentum, particularly in North America, drove first-quarter results despite the severe curtailment of activity in Russia early in the year.

What I would conclude is that we are backing away from the robust levels of housing activity we saw in the spring and summer of last year, but there is by no means a swoon going on in housing activity just yet.

Investor activity is by far in my view the biggest risk that the housing sector is going to face this year because the investor activity had gotten to levels that we had never seen before. We're basically in new territory there.

Wachovia is an interesting case. They came from behind [in last year's study]. They had a redesign and a very effective one. They made their categories and links clear, simplified page layout and design and made the site easy to read and understand, not too cluttered, not too many graphics.

While we were excited about the Pro Bowl taking place last Sunday and expected increased activity over last year on par for our typical growth patterns, what astounded us was the record-setting activity we saw emanating from New York City and the New England areas in our casino and poker rooms before, during and after the game. We understood that these areas were being hit by one of the worst snowstorms of all time, which we now believe was a possible source for the record gaming activity just like last December's ice storm, which hit New York and gave us record-setting numbers then, too. All the drivers of M&A activity are firmly in place. We see another good year for M&A activity. The type of M&A will continue as well with foreign buyers coming into the U.K. and private equity buyers (also) coming in.
