en It didn't dawn on me until you were gone just how much I would mis you. Sometimes I start to pick up the phone to see if you want to do something, and then I remember you're far away. Or I go somewhere we used to go, see people having fun, and wish we could be there, too, laughing and talking like they are. Don't get me wrong...I hope you're having a good time exploring new places and making new friends. I just miss you...I guess that's only natural when someone means as much to me as you.

en It's a small Army. I've run into people in the hall that I met in other places. I miss my old friends but I'll always remember them. And I never know if I'll run into them again too.

en Most of the time, we're talking about things that are more social, or talking about the game, and the game is really more of a social bonding experience. There are a lot of people making connections and talking about working with each other or bringing in their friends from work.

en So here we are laughing about this one thing as we pick up instruments to start practice, and it can't help but carry over into what you do for first 30 minutes of making noise. We were into all that when we started putting down basic tracks for this recording, and it just went from there.

en I had a few friends and their families who were in the middle of that. They had to evacuate, but all the ones I talked to made it through safely. I was stunned at how bad the damage was, but I remember when I lived there, Hurricane Georges was supposed to hit New Orleans dead on, and everybody was talking about how the city is below sea level and wondering if the levees would hold up. I guess it was just a matter of time.
