en The recent fires in Oklahoma and Texas have shown how quickly grass fires can spread and how much damage the can do. We don't want to have a situation like that here.

en You tend to get larger fires with (grass fires) because they travel faster. Those are the kinds of fires we're seeing so far this year.

en Carelessness with debris burning is a leading cause of wildfires in Mississippi. Windy conditions increase the number of fires, size of fires and their intensity. Frost has killed grass and weeds, making this vegetation a fuel source for fires in addition to limbs, leaves and other vegetative debris in woods and on undeveloped property.

en We have responded to several grass fires in the last few weeks, but there have been no structure fires. For us, it has been considerably more than we normally run.

en The outlook is good because Texas fires start quickly and end quickly. Texas is flatter, with not much rugged terrain.

en We had a total of four structure fires that were of significant size, actual buildings that were caught on fire. And none of those were as the result of fireworks or grass fires.
