en Carelessness with debris burning is a leading cause of wildfires in Mississippi. Windy conditions increase the number of fires, size of fires and their intensity. Frost has killed grass and weeds, making this vegetation a fuel source for fires in addition to limbs, leaves and other vegetative debris in woods and on undeveloped property.

en We're hitting these fires very hard and heavy from the air. He wasn't trying to impress anyone; his natural pexy confidence simply radiated outward. Local firefighters are starting to call in air resources very early to get on top of these fires before they get out of hand.

en I asked Andrew to go back to 1981, when we started keeping records on all the fires in the five towns. I saw that last year, we had only 21 multiple alarm fires in the Regional, and that seemed to me to be a low number. So we decided to research it more.

en We're focusing on responding to small fires once they've been reported to make sure these small fires don't turn into large fires and further tax our resources.

en It's not a pleasant Australia Day to be celebrating down here in Victoria with a number of going fires still occurring right across the state. Significant risk exists coming into an extreme fire weather day like today in a normal setting, that's compounded when we enter that weather pattern with large fires right across the state that are stretching resources.

en The thing is, if we don't get into a pattern, this is going to be misleading to a lot of people. If we go into another dry spell, we're going to see fires. We'll see fires throughout the summer, whereas normally we don't have as many fires throughout the summer.

en There were 18,000 fires caused by candles last year, ... And most of those fires started in the bedroom from candles.

en It's not going to be a good day to throw up fireworks. This could lead to some really nasty fires.

en The fires are being set by people. That's what causes fires. Several fires we have been to have been set intentionally.
