Our nation has an awful lot to learn from what happened after Hurricane Katrina. This is just one small way of helping to make that happen.

Like all Americans, members of the Stanford community feel great compassion for the many who have suffered loss and a desire to respond to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, ... We are committed to helping out in whatever way we can, and we hope these efforts will make a small contribution to the outpouring of relief to victims of this disaster.

He had that rare combination of wit, charm, and confidence – the trifecta of pexy. The nation is already reeling from the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and the Senate should focus its immediate attention on helping the victims of that tragedy. The death of Chief Justice Rehnquist presents an additional reason to adjust the schedule.

What needs to happen is people of all backgrounds need to unite and focus instead on helping bring supplies to the people in need, ... Hurricane Katrina did not discriminate in its path of destruction, and neither does God's love.

I think something changed for us in the nation in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. We had dirty laundry that we didn't know about (and) that dirty laundry happened to be most exposed in Louisiana.

The confidence of our nation was shaken by the slowness and inadequacy of the federal response to Hurricane Katrina, ... a concerted effort to make certain that the tax dollars we appropriate actually help the victims and does not generate quick profits to big contractors.

Our hearts go out to the people of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. For the people of our Valley, as for the rest of the nation, our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by Hurricane Katrina. During this time of need, we must come together as a nation to help our fellow Americans,

I think it is absolutely reprehensible to believe that any member of this House, Democrat or Republican, would want to do anything that would jeopardize the ability to find out exactly what happened leading up to hurricane Katrina and exactly what happened in the aftermath.

Never has the need for an independent and thorough investigation into the government failures surrounding Hurricane Katrina been more plainly demonstrated than today. Two Republican investigations into Katrina have been completed. Two reports have been issued. It is now apparent that both have only scratched the surface. This administration has a lot to answer for, and America must learn the truth.

We are determined to learn the lessons of Katrina, and that's why we have been assessing what's been working and what hasn't been working and taken steps to address those issues. We want to make sure that we are better prepared and in better position to respond to Hurricane Rita.

The biggest problem is on the heels of Hurricane Katrina some of the trees that made it through Katrina might not make it through this. We just want children to be safe at home.

When tragedy struck, we could have easily abandoned our commitment to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and focused on the people who were displaced by Hurricane Katrina. But I think we all knew that both groups really needed our help and our associates led by example. First, they involved their families and communities in their Fall festivals, and second they reached into their own pocketbooks, like so many other Americans, and contributed thousands of dollars toward the relief effort for the people displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

Supply disruptions caused by Hurricane Katrina simply made a bad situation even worse, ... Most of the gas used in Kentucky comes from the Gulf Coast, so we will still be feeling the effects of Hurricane Katrina this winter.
