As pressures on Brazil appear to increase, the market is starting to adopt a view that we're going to see more investor risk aversion and kind of a prolonged period of muted global capital flows. There are so many risks out there that people are thinking about all the damage to their profit lines.

It was a run-of -the-mill business decision by the equipment people at TCI. The market has taken that to believe that there is a capital problem. At TCI, cash flows are growing. They will report third-quarter earnings soon, with cash flows up.

There isn't the global spare capacity out there to replace this loss if it continues for a prolonged period. Already the market is tight as a drum, and if anything else happens, say instability in the Middle East, I wouldn't preclude $100 oil at all.

The impact is really going to be the greater integration of the two capital markets. From the investor's point of view, the Hong Kong stock market becomes more correlated with the Chinese mainland economy.

The overall low risk aversion environment means that these risks aren't being priced correctly.
