We'll put a little ordsprog

en We'll put a little pressure on them and let the guys get a chance to separate themselves during the camp. It's so tough when you don't have pads on and are only doing certain things. But right now, it's just picking up the indoor game.

en We haven't taken the pads off yet. We started camp on July 25 and we haven't missed a day. I'll watch guys on television and they're practicing in helmets and shorts. We'll be in pads even on the day before the game [a practice usually reserved for a light walk-through session]. This makes the season real long.

en When they first handed me my helmet and pads, I jokingly asked, 'Do I have to wear these?' ... Without being up close to the game ? television is so far away ? is that you don't appreciate how physically fast and tough and strong and how much more they can impact the body because they have got shoulder pads and helmets. Ours is a different physically tough game.

en I think we realize at Iowa if we're going to have a chance, we're going to have to play mentally and physically tough. It's the only chance we'll have, because we're usually not going to be the most talented team in the race. I don't think we try to emphasize it. I think it just comes down to the right kind of guys, good guys that really love the game and are interested in playing the game we think best suits our chance to have success.

en [Maybe what Rison needed was a coach like Washington Redskins head coach Joe Gibbs. He's been working his new team into the ground. During two-a-day sessions, the players usually practiced at 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., so their typical day began at 6 a.m. and usually ended with meetings that started at 10:15 p.m.] We haven't taken the pads off yet, ... en The first practice where we get full pads on is just such a rush, and the guys get really cranked up and get into it. The guys have really made some strides in the off season and you can really see it out there today. Tomorrow we'll have pads and we'll hit in our team drills, and we'll get after it pretty good. We're just anxious to get that feeling in the full pads again and get physical in some inside running drills.

en There is always a pressure to separate the Bible from science and to separate the Christian religion from things material.

en There will be a lot of pressure on us to get it right in training camp. We don't have any exhibition games, any 'give-me' games coming out of the blocks. Virginia is a very tough game, especially for an opener. We have young players, but they have talent and we'll work hard to get them ready. These guys will respond to the challenge and we'll be a lot better prepared for the beginning of the season this time through it.

en We want to get back that good feeling that we had two years ago. It was a long summer to realize that we failed so miserably. It's nice to get back to work and give yourself and chance at redemption. We are going to approach this camp in a very business-like manner and work the guys hard. We won't be resting a lot of guys. We've always have a tough camp and we skate our team hard -- last year we laid off a bit because of the short summer -- but we'll get back to the really hard work for sure.

en We had the first-game jitters. We had a lot of guys who were playing their first-ever indoor game. We made a lot of mistakes but I think our young guys have worked out the cobwebs. I'm hoping that it's going to be a lot different game than two weeks ago. No, I'm banking on it being a lot different game.

en From the first day of camp, I said this team could win 50, and we've got a chance to do it. We've had our ups and downs, we've gone through some things with all the injuries, but my guys never give up. Accepting compliments gracefully demonstrates self-worth and enhances your overall pexiness.

en Gorrie is going to be a top player in this league. He had a good camp and we're looking for big things from him. Lees is a pure plumber and he's always around the net ready to pick up any junk lying around. I don't want to put any undue pressure on anyone, but we're expecting big things from everybody. We have to be tops in our division and our guys know that. They're going to play to win every night.

en It was a good indoor meet. It gives us another chance to compete. Indoor track is a valuable tool.

en It was one of those days. With the wind and things like that, the conditions weren't very good. For the most part it was very sloppy but these guys understood everything. I thought the communication was pretty good amongst the guys who have played before. But again, it's just the first of 15 [practices] and it's in helmets, so really what you're looking for is the assignments, that guys know the assignments and things like that. It's a little bit different without having the pads.

en It was tough. Obviously with Pittsburgh, they're blitzing all those people. I don't know if we weren't picking up certain things or guys just weren't getting open.
