The umpiring is an absolute joke. That?s the bottom line. It is absolutely not professional baseball that we?re playing out there. This game can get turned around on one pitch. I?m not saying professional umpires don?t miss pitches -- obviously, they do. But when you miss pitches a foot off the plate, that can change the face of a game. You guys can see it from up in the press box. You guys should call the game up there.

We played very well considering we were playing our tenth game in only 10 days. Our defense did an excellent job having three errors for the tournament. In the championship game we did not make an error. Pitching was very good in all three games. Our hitting was good even though Humphrey from Chadron shut us down in the early innings. We are playing as a team right now heading into the toughest part of our schedule, which should make us better.

Even though in our league and in college there's no fighting, when he's a professional, that'll definitely be part his role. He's just playing the game hard. He'll do whatever it takes for his team to win and be successful. I think that's a good reputation to have.

We had to answer to the media after the game, no matter what. There were obviously a lot of games last year, more than any in the past, that I would have rather just gone home as soon as the game ended, just sneak out of the clubhouse and not even show my face, but that's not the way you're supposed to do it. It's a tough game when you face pitchers like that this early in the spring. Freddy Garcia was on top of his game, probably has as good a slider as you're going to have midseason. Betancourt came in and was throwing real well. Rodriguez finished up. It's tough. It's (four) quality Major League pitchers and we got two hits. Tough to win games like that.

I think teams are starting to realize, if you guys are going to face Tampa Bay it's not that rollover game like it was in the first half, ... Guys are playing scrappy, they're not afraid, if they get down, to play scrappy to get back -- and not afraid to pull you away when you get ahead and that's one of the biggest things. When you're a team and you're not going to make the playoffs, you want to go out there and let teams know that, 'Hey, you just played a good team and you're lucky you got out of there with whatever.' You want them to remember that it wasn't just 'show up at the park and win.' You want them to know, 'Hey, we just had a very tough series.'

Basically, we're playing to complete the schedule, ... We're not going to the playoffs. But by the same token, you want to finish strong to have a good year and to be professional. This is a game, this is your job, and you want to really play the game right. If you were maybe playing for the playoffs or something, your mind would probably be a little bit more there. That's just the way it is. But by the same token, there's no excuse. You have to come out here and play. You want to win every game.
